Description: Manages DASAN Networks SLE OLT MPLS-TP BFD sessions for bidirectional forwarding detection and fault localization.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SLE-MPLS-TP-BFD-MIB?
SLE-MPLS-TP-BFD-MIB is a DASAN Networks vendor-specific MIB for SLE-series OLT/aggregation platforms managing Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) sessions used with MPLS-Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) circuits. It exposes BFD session state, configuration, and timers used to rapidly detect forwarding-plane failures on MPLS-TP paths. Its monitoring role centers on software/protocol-level fault detection rather than physical hardware health, letting an operator see whether BFD sessions protecting MPLS-TP tunnels/pseudowires are up, down, or flapping as a proxy for path reachability. Because BFD is a generic IETF mechanism (RFC 5880 and related), this MIB builds on those standard concepts applied to MPLS-TP, and it works together with the MPLS-TP pseudowire MIB to provide fault localization for the paths it protects. It is deployed in carrier/metro networks using MPLS-TP transport where fast failure detection is required. Engineers can download the SLE-MPLS-TP-BFD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SLE-MPLS-TP-BFD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- DASAN Networks SLE-series OLT/aggregation node (MPLS-TP transport)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll the BFD session table for a given MPLS-TP path to check its session state (up/down) and last state-change time, detecting a forwarding failure faster than routing-protocol convergence would. No concrete sample objects were supplied for this module, so specific object names cannot be confirmed, but a BFD session table with state, diagnostic code, and timer columns is the expected pattern per standard BFD MIB design. A session transitioning to down would indicate a break in the MPLS-TP transport path requiring fault localization. This MIB is used purely for BFD session/fault status, not general device health.
What Can Be Monitored
- BFD session state
- BFD session up/down transitions
- BFD diagnostic codes
- MPLS-TP path fault detection timers
