Description: Enterprise MIB for Sigma Network Systems ECS-1 bridge/router devices, covering hardware, software, FDDI, UART, WAN, and filter management

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SIGMA-MIB?

SIGMA-MIB is an enterprise vendor MIB for the Sigma Network Systems ECS-1, a combined bridge/router device, covering hardware status, software configuration, and per-technology interface management across FDDI, UART/serial, and WAN interfaces along with packet filtering. It exposes hardware module identification and status, the running software version, and interface-specific configuration/status objects for each supported interface type, plus filter rule management for traffic control. Its monitoring emphasis spans both hardware and software status: hardware module state reveals a failed card or component in the ECS-1 chassis, the software version object confirms which firmware release is running, and per-interface status on FDDI, serial (UART), and WAN ports reveals link failures on any of the device's diverse interface types. As a self-contained enterprise MIB it is not noted as depending on other standard MIBs, instead defining its own object hierarchy for the ECS-1's specific hardware and protocol mix. It was deployed in legacy multiprotocol bridge/router environments using the Sigma Network Systems ECS-1 platform. Engineers can download the SIGMA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SIGMA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Sigma Network Systems ECS-1 bridge/router

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were captured for this module in the available source excerpt; based on its stated scope, an admin would poll hardware module status objects to detect a failed component in the ECS-1 chassis, check the software version object to confirm the installed firmware release, and check per-interface status across FDDI, UART, and WAN objects to detect a down link on any of the device's connection types.

What Can Be Monitored

  • hardware module status
  • software version
  • FDDI interface status
  • UART/serial port status
  • WAN interface status
  • packet filter configuration
