srptrLinkStatusMask

Module: SIGMA-MIB

OID (symbolic): SIGMA-MIB::srptrLinkStatusMask

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.3.15.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This mask provides quick access to the general connectivity of the repeater. Each bit corresponds to the link status of a repeater port. If the bit is set to 1 then link pulses are being received, as per the IEEE specification. A bit value of zero indicates one of four conditions: - There is nothing physically attached to the port. - The port is not configured for twisted-pair. The AUI interface, for example, does not generate or test for link pulses. - The device attached to the port does not generate the link pulses specified by the IEEE standard. STARLAN devices, for example, do not generate such pulses. - The port is configured to ignore link pulses (see srptrPortLinkPulse). The least significant bit in the mask corresponds to repeater port 1; the high-order eight bits are always zero.

What is srptrLinkStatusMask?

A bitmask giving quick at-a-glance link status for every port on this repeater: a set bit means link pulses are being received on that port per the IEEE standard, while a zero bit means nothing is plugged in, the port isn't configured for twisted-pair, the attached device doesn't generate link pulses, or link-pulse checking is disabled via srptrPortLinkPulse; the least-significant bit corresponds to port 1, and an admin scans this mask to spot dead ports across a whole repeater in one read.
