Description: Manages SIAE MICROELETTRONICA microwave radio software load inventory, activation, and rollback.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SIAE-SOFT-MIB?

SIAE-SOFT-MIB is a vendor MIB from SIAE MICROELETTRONICA for managing software release inventory, activation, and rollback on its microwave radio transmission equipment, part of the telecom microwave backhaul technology area. Although no object list was extracted, MIBs of this purpose typically expose tables listing available software versions/packages stored on the device, the currently active/running version, and controls to trigger activation or rollback to a previous release. This is directly a software-status monitoring function: it lets an operator verify which firmware version a microwave radio is currently running, whether a pending software update has been successfully activated, and provides a safety mechanism to roll back if a new load causes problems. It is a self-contained SIAE enterprise MIB, likely paired with SIAE's other equipment/hardware MIBs for the same radio platform. It is deployed by telecom operators running SIAE microwave radio links for backhaul in cellular and fixed-wireless networks, and operators supporting this equipment can download the SIAE-SOFT-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SIAE-SOFT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SIAE MICROELETTRONICA microwave radio

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were available for this module, so a concrete polling scenario using real object names cannot be given; based on the module's stated purpose, an admin would typically expect a software inventory table listing available/active versions and an activation/rollback control object, but the specific object names cannot be confirmed from the available data.

What Can Be Monitored

  • software version inventory (unconfirmed - no objects available)

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using softwareEquipmentReleaseBench1Status OID:

Select an SIAE MICROELETTRONICA microwave radio (software release inventory/activation/rollback status) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type softwareEquipmentReleaseBench1Status into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. Status of the bench 1 software. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is anything other than 'running', since that indicates the condition this object reports has changed to one worth investigating. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
