Description: Manages SIAE MICROELETTRONICA Ethernet Connectivity Fault Management extension objects for OAM.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SIAE-ECFM-EXT-MIB?

SIAE-ECFM-EXT-MIB is a proprietary extension from SIAE MICROELETTRONICA that adds Ethernet Connectivity Fault Management (ECFM, IEEE 802.1ag/ITU-T Y.1731 style OAM) alarm objects for microwave radio transport equipment. Its data is fault/alarm-oriented, specifically bridging Maintenance End Point (MEP) alarm conditions from the ECFM OAM layer into SIAE's own alarm subsystem. In monitoring terms it exposes Ethernet service continuity faults -- loss of continuity checks, remote defect indications, and similar MEP-level alarm states -- which is central to detecting software/protocol-level faults in Ethernet OAM on a radio link rather than physical hardware faults. It explicitly depends on the SIAE-ALARM module (to which it feeds alarm conditions) and conceptually on the IEEE 802.1ag/ITU-T Y.1731 ECFM standard. It is deployed on SIAE microwave radio platforms carrying Ethernet services, used by telecom operators to monitor end-to-end Ethernet service health across a radio hop. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the SIAE-ECFM-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SIAE-ECFM-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SIAE MICROELETTRONICA microwave radio equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll ECFM MEP alarm state objects to check whether a given Maintenance Association's endpoint is reporting loss-of-continuity or remote-defect-indication toward its peer MEP across the radio link. Because this MIB explicitly interfaces into SIAE-ALARM, a raised ECFM alarm here should also surface as a corresponding entry in the unit's central alarm table. Seeing a MEP alarm without any corresponding physical radio alarm suggests the fault is at the Ethernet OAM/service layer rather than the RF link itself.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ECFM MEP alarm condition
  • Ethernet OAM continuity check status
  • remote defect indication
  • alarm correlation with SIAE-ALARM module
