Category: Microwave Radio - SAF Tehnika, SAF Tehnika Microwave

Description: Manages SAF Tehnika microwave radio alarm definitions, severity levels, and notification objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SAF-ALARM-MIB?

SAF-ALARM-MIB manages alarm reporting for SAF Tehnika microwave radio transmission equipment, used in point-to-point wireless backhaul links. It exposes a table of currently active alarms along with severity and timestamp information, plus notification objects for alarm state changes. This is a fault/status monitoring MIB at its core: it lets an admin see exactly which alarms are currently active on the radio link (e.g. signal degradation, hardware faults, link loss) and when the active alarm list last changed, which is central to assessing the operational health of the microwave transmission hardware. It follows the standard SNMPv2-CONF compliance/group structure common to vendor alarm MIBs. It is deployed in telecom and ISP backhaul networks using SAF Tehnika microwave radios, where NMS platforms poll or receive traps for the active alarm table to maintain link health visibility. Engineers can download the SAF-ALARM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SAF-ALARM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SAF Tehnika microwave radio transmission equipment

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll safAlarmActiveTable (safAlarmActiveEntry) indexed by safAlarmActiveIndex to retrieve the full list of currently active alarms on a SAF Tehnika radio, and check safAlarmActiveLastChanged/safAlarmActiveLastChangedDateAndTime to see when the alarm set last changed, useful for correlating with a recent outage. A non-empty safAlarmActiveTable combined with a recent safAlarmActiveLastChangedDateAndTime would indicate a new fault condition on the radio link needing investigation, such as a signal fade or hardware failure. safAlarmNotifications would deliver traps proactively when new alarms are raised or cleared.

What Can Be Monitored

  • alarm severity
  • time of last alarm state change
