Category: Environmental Monitoring

Description: Manages core device status, temperature, and system identity for the RMS Compact environmental monitor.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RMS-COMPACT-SNMPv1-MAIN-MIB?

RMS-COMPACT-SNMPv1-MAIN-MIB is a Sinetica enterprise MIB for the "RMS Compact" environmental monitoring appliance, a small rack-mount unit that watches conditions such as temperature in equipment rooms and cabinets. It exposes per-sensor configuration (enable/disable, name, calibration offset) alongside live readings and multi-tier threshold levels (lower/upper warning and control levels) plus trap-arming flags for each threshold crossing. This is a hardware environmental-status MIB: administrators use it to track the current temperature reading against configured warning/critical thresholds and to know whether the device will fire a trap when a threshold is crossed, catching cooling failures or overheating before equipment damage occurs. It's a self-contained vendor MIB with no stated dependency on other standard sensor MIBs. It's typically deployed in server rooms, network closets, or cabinets alongside networking/server equipment as an independent environmental monitoring probe. Engineers can download the RMS-COMPACT-SNMPv1-MAIN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RMS-COMPACT-SNMPv1-MAIN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Sinetica RMS Compact environmental monitor

Monitoring Examples

An admin polls rms-cTemp1Current against rms-cTemp1UpperWarningLevel and rms-cTemp1UpperControlLevel to see how close a room or cabinet is to an overheating condition. rms-cTemp1EnableMonitoring confirms the sensor channel is actually active, and rms-cTemp1OFFtoONtrapUWL/rms-cTemp1OFFtoONtrapLCL indicate whether the device is configured to fire a trap the moment upper-warning or lower-control thresholds are crossed, giving early warning of an HVAC failure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current temperature reading
  • temperature warning/control thresholds
  • sensor monitoring enable state
  • calibration offset
  • trap-on-threshold-crossing configuration
