What Is RFC1354-MIB?
RFC1354-MIB defines an IP forwarding table that extends the base MIB-II ipRouteTable to support multiple routes to the same destination via policy or next-hop-specific indexing. It's a vendor-neutral, IETF standards-based module exposing routing configuration and status: destination network, mask, next-hop address, route type, protocol source, and metrics. It is a software/configuration-status MIB rather than a hardware one — administrators use it to verify expected static or dynamic routes are present and pointing at live next hops, and to detect routing-table corruption or missing routes after a topology change. It directly extends the base IP group defined in RFC1213-MIB/MIB-II. It's deployed on any IP router or Layer-3 switch where SNMP-based route-table visibility is needed.
