ipForwardDest

Module: RFC1354-MIB

OID (symbolic): RFC1354-MIB::ipForwardDest

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.24.2.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: IpAddress

Access: read-only

Description: The destination IP address of this route. An entry with a value of 0.0.0.0 is considered a default route.

This object may not take a Multicast (Class D) address value.

Any assignment (implicit or otherwise) of an instance of this object to a value x must be rejected if the bitwise logical-AND of x with the value of the corresponding instance of the ipForwardMask object is not equal to x.

What is ipForwardDest?

This is the destination IP address, or network, that a particular forwarding table entry routes traffic toward, with 0.0.0.0 denoting the default route. Admins read it, along with ipForwardMask, to see exactly which destination networks the device knows how to reach and to verify a default route exists for otherwise-unmatched traffic. For example, an entry with this value set to 0.0.0.0 represents the device's default route, used when no more specific route matches a packet's destination.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.24.2.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> RFC1354-MIB::ipForwardDest

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.4.24.2.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> RFC1354-MIB::ipForwardDest.1

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> ipForwardDest.1
