What Is REDSTONE-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB?
REDSTONE-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB is a private MIB from Redstone Communications for managing fractional T1 (channelized DS1) configuration on its routers/access equipment, where only a subset of a T1's 24 timeslots is allocated to a given logical interface. It exposes configuration objects for building and indexing fractional T1 interfaces, including the timeslot map/bitmask, per-timeslot data rate, the underlying physical DS1 interface it rides on, data polarity, and loopback settings. This module is primarily used to verify software/configuration correctness of fractional T1 channel groups -- confirming the timeslot allocation, rate, and loopback state match the intended circuit configuration -- and a loopback left enabled or a wrong timeslot map would explain a fractional T1 link that isn't passing expected traffic. It layers fractional-channel objects on top of a lower-layer DS1 interface, implying dependence on the standard DS1-MIB or an equivalent physical-layer T1 MIB for the underlying line. It is typically deployed on Redstone WAN access routers providing sub-rate (fractional) T1 circuits to branch or customer sites. Engineers can download the REDSTONE-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in REDSTONE-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Redstone Communications WAN access router
Monitoring Examples
An operator would walk rsFt1IfTable/rsFt1IfEntry indexed by rsFt1IfIndex to check rsFt1IfTimeSlotMap and rsFt1IfTimeSlotRate against the provisioned circuit, and confirm rsFt1IfLowerIfIndex correctly references the physical DS1 port carrying the fractional channel. Checking rsFt1IfLoopbackConfig would reveal whether a loopback was inadvertently left active, which would explain a fractional T1 circuit passing no real traffic even though the physical DS1 line shows up. rsFt1IfDataPolarity mismatches could also explain bit errors on a fractional T1 channel connected to certain carrier equipment.
What Can Be Monitored
- fractional T1 timeslot map
- timeslot data rate
- channel-group interface status
- data polarity setting
- loopback configuration
