Description: Manages Dynamic Load Balancing (DLB) configuration and cable modem migration policy on Motorola BSR CMTS platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RDN-DLB-MIB?

RDN-DLB-MIB is a Motorola (Arris/CommScope) MIB for the Dynamic Load Balancing (DLB) feature on BSR (Broadband Services Router) CMTS platforms, used to configure and manage cable modem migration policy across upstream/downstream channels. It exposes configuration data controlling how the CMTS automatically redistributes cable modems between channels to balance load, along with the resulting migration/rebalancing behavior. This MIB is used to monitor the operational effect of load-balancing policy on the DOCSIS access network, letting an operator confirm that modems are being redistributed as configured and detect a misconfigured or malfunctioning DLB policy causing channel overload or excessive modem migration churn. It is a Motorola/Arris-specific extension layered on top of the standard DOCSIS/CMTS MIBs that define channels and cable modem inventory. It is typically deployed in cable operator head-ends where Motorola BSR CMTS equipment manages a DOCSIS HFC access network. Engineers can download the RDN-DLB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RDN-DLB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Motorola/Arris BSR CMTS

Monitoring Examples

No object or table names were provided for this module, so a concrete polling scenario cannot be grounded in real identifiers; generally an operator would poll DLB policy and migration-trigger objects to confirm cable modems are being dynamically reassigned to underutilized channels as intended, and would investigate if migration activity stalls or an upstream channel remains persistently overloaded.
