Description: The number of VRRP packets received by the virtual router with an invalid value in the 'type' field. Discontinuities in the value of this counter can occur at re-initialization of the management system, and at other times as indicated by the value of rcVrrpTmpStatisticsDiscontinuityTime.

What is rcVrrpTmpStatisticsRcvdInvalidTypePkts?

This read-only counter tracks the total number of malformed VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) packets received by a virtual router that contain an invalid value in the type field, indicating corrupted or non-compliant control traffic. A rising count may signal network layer issues, equipment bugs, or misconfigured neighboring VRRP speakers sending invalid packets. Network operators monitor this counter to detect protocol violations and troubleshoot virtual router redundancy problems, with the count resetting at system reboot or other discontinuity events.
