Category: Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB
Description: Provides Radlan-specific IP management extensions beyond the standard IP-MIB.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RADLAN-rlIP-MIB?
RADLAN-rlIP-MIB is a Marvell/RADLAN private enterprise MIB extending standard IP address management on RADLAN-based switches, with a focus on representing auto-configured (e.g., SLAAC) and manually assigned IPv6 addresses per interface. It exposes an IP address table listing each address's type, the address itself, its origin (manual, DHCP, or auto-configuration), an associated general-prefix name, owning interface index, extended address type, prefix, status, and creation/last-changed timestamps. This is an IP-configuration and address-lifecycle monitoring MIB rather than a traffic-counter MIB: it confirms which addresses are active on which interface, whether an address was auto-configured versus statically assigned, and when it was created or last changed, helping diagnose IPv6 addressing problems such as an interface failing to receive an expected SLAAC address. It complements and overlaps with the standard IETF IP-MIB's ipAddressTable, adding RADLAN-specific origin and general-prefix tracking. It is typically deployed on RADLAN-based Layer 3 switches operating in dual-stack or IPv6 environments. Engineers can download the RADLAN-rlIP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-rlIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Marvell/RADLAN-based Layer 3 switch/router
- OEM routing switches licensing the RADLAN software stack
- Marvell/RADLAN-based Layer 3 switches (OEM switch platforms)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator verifying IPv6 auto-configuration would poll rlIpAddressTable/rlIpAddressEntry for a given rlIpAddressIfIndex, checking rlIpAddressOrigin to confirm whether the address was assigned via SLAAC versus manually, and rlIpAddressLastChanged to see when it last updated. rlIpAddressPrefix and rlIpAddressGeneralPrefixName reveal which delegated IPv6 prefix the address derived from, useful when troubleshooting a prefix-delegation change that didn't propagate. If an expected auto-configured address is absent from rlIpAddressTable for an interface, that interface likely isn't receiving router advertisements correctly.
What Can Be Monitored
- IP addresses assigned per interface
- address origin (manual/auto-configured/DHCP)
- address creation and last-changed time
- associated IPv6 prefix / general-prefix name
- address status
