Description: Defines SNMP trap and notification definitions for event reporting on Cisco Small Business switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCOSB-TRAPS-MIB?

CISCOSB-TRAPS-MIB is a Cisco Small Business proprietary MIB (built on CISCOSB-BRIDGEMIBOBJECTS-MIB/CISCOSB-DEVICEPARAMS-MIB) defining switch-wide private notifications. Its traps cover RX/TX overflow hardware faults, routing-table overflow, reset-required, TFTP start/end/abort, backup-link-fault, main-link-up, IPX RIP/SAP table overflow, facility access violation, auto-configuration completed, forwarding-table overflow, Frame Relay switch connection up/down, init errors, dynamic VLAN port added/removed, and several RS/IP-Zhr (redundant-server IP zero-handoff-router?) connection/allocation events. As a notification MIB it lets an administrator get alerted on hardware faults, table overflows, and link-state changes on a Cisco Small Business switch. It is deployed on Cisco Small Business switching equipment (notifications). Engineers can download the CISCOSB-TRAPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-TRAPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Small Business switching equipment (notifications)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator receives routeTableOverflow to catch a routing-table exhaustion condition on a Cisco Small Business switch.
