Category: Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB

Description: Configures and monitors Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) on Marvell switch interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-CDP-MIB?

RADLAN-CDP-MIB is a private Marvell/Radlan switch MIB that configures and monitors Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) support, giving Marvell-based switches interoperability with Cisco neighbor-discovery tooling. It exposes a neighbor cache table of discovered adjacent devices, protocol counters, and configuration items like the source interface used to advertise CDP and the voice VLAN ID announced to phones. Rather than hardware sensors, its monitoring value lies in software/protocol status: the cache table reveals whether neighbor discovery is actively working, and counters plus the duplex-mismatch logging flag surface protocol-level faults such as misconfigured neighbors. It implements Cisco's proprietary CDP protocol rather than a formal IETF MIB, though it depends on IF-MIB ifIndex values for interface association. It is typically deployed on switches in mixed-vendor networks needing topology visibility alongside Cisco equipment. Engineers can download the RADLAN-CDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-CDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Marvell/Radlan-based managed switch

Monitoring Examples

rlCdpCacheTable/rlCdpCacheEntry lists discovered neighbor devices per interface, letting an admin confirm expected Cisco neighbors are visible. rlCdpCountersTable's rlCdpCountersName/rlCdpCountersValue pairs expose protocol counters (e.g., packets sent/received or errors); a sudden spike would suggest misbehaving neighbor devices or a flapping link. rlCdpLogMismatchDuplexEnable, when enabled, causes duplex mismatches detected via CDP neighbor exchange to be logged, a common root cause of interface errors that would otherwise be hard to diagnose.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CDP neighbor cache entries
  • CDP protocol counters
  • duplex mismatch detection via CDP
  • voice VLAN ID advertised
  • CDP source interface configuration
