Category: Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB
Description: Extends standard IEEE 802.1D bridge MIB objects with Marvell-specific bridge parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RADLAN-BRIDGEMIBOBJECTS-MIB?
RADLAN-BRIDGEMIBOBJECTS-MIB is a RADLAN/Marvell private extension to the standard IEEE 802.1D Bridge MIB, adding vendor-specific objects for per-port priority grouping, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) behavior, and per-VLAN STP instance configuration on RADLAN/Marvell-based managed switches. It exposes bridging/Layer-2 configuration and status data: STP enable state and type, per-port priority group tables, per-VLAN STP membership and instance tables, and STP trap variables. Its monitoring relevance is chiefly software/protocol configuration status rather than physical hardware - confirming rldot1dStpEnable is set as expected, that a port's VLAN-STP mapping matches design, and that STP trap notifications are enabled to catch topology changes, are the kinds of checks this MIB supports for network stability. It directly depends on and extends the standard BRIDGE-MIB (IEEE 802.1D / RFC 4188), reusing its dot1d naming convention under a RADLAN-specific prefix. It is deployed on managed Ethernet switches running RADLAN/Marvell embedded switch software wherever per-VLAN STP or custom port-priority grouping is used, and an engineer troubleshooting STP behavior on such a switch may need to look up a specific RADLAN-BRIDGEMIBOBJECTS-MIB OID to confirm which vendor extension corresponds to a given per-VLAN STP instance.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-BRIDGEMIBOBJECTS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- managed Ethernet switches running RADLAN/Marvell embedded switch software
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll rldot1dStpEnable and rldot1dStpType to confirm Spanning Tree is running with the expected variant on a given switch, and check the rldot1dStpVlanTable/rldot1dStpVlanEntry to verify a specific VLAN's STP instance configuration matches intent. rldot1dPriorityPortGroupTable/rldot1dPriorityPortGroupEntry would be polled to audit which ports are grouped under a given priority group, and rldot1dStpTrapVariable indicates whether STP-related trap notifications are active for detecting unexpected topology changes.
What Can Be Monitored
- spanning tree enable state and type
- per-VLAN STP instance configuration
- port priority group membership
- STP trap notification status

The value determines how long the port stays in each of the Listening and Learning states, which precede the Forwarding state. This value is also used, when a topology change has been detected and is underway, to age all dynamic entries in the Forwarding Database. [Note that this value is the one that this bridge is currently using, in contrast to dot1dStpBridgeForwardDelay which is the value that this bridge and all others would start using if/when this bridge were to become the root.] |
