Category: Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB

Description: Delivers per-port traffic counters covering bytes, packets, and errors.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-PORT-STATISTICS-MIB?

RADLAN-PORT-STATISTICS-MIB is a private Marvell/Radlan switch MIB providing per-port traffic statistics via time-windowed sampled counters rather than simple cumulative counters. It exposes named counter samples per port, collection intervals, and timestamps, making it a core performance-monitoring MIB for interface throughput and error trending. Its central use is monitoring interface performance over time: sampled counters reveal traffic spikes, drops, or error-rate changes on a port that would indicate congestion, a failing link, or a traffic surge. It complements standard IF-MIB/RMON-style interface counters (RFC 2819) by adding vendor-specific sampling and naming. It is deployed for capacity-planning and performance-monitoring dashboards that build historical per-port traffic trends. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the RADLAN-PORT-STATISTICS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-PORT-STATISTICS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Marvell/Radlan-based managed switch

Monitoring Examples

rlPortStatSampleTable/Entry, indexed by rlPortStatSampleIfIndex, rlPortStatSampleStatSubType, and rlPortStatSampleCounterName, exposes named counter values (rlPortStatSampleStatID) collected over a configured rlPortStatSampleCollectionInterval, with timestamps in rlPortStatSampleCollectionTime/CollectionTimeStr. An NMS polling this table could build a time series of a port's traffic counters and flag a sudden spike or drop indicating a link problem. rlPortStatEnabledPorts shows which ports currently have sampling turned on, and rlPortStatClearPorts can reset accumulated statistics for specific ports.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port sampled traffic counters
  • sampling collection interval and timestamps
  • enabled ports for statistics collection
  • named counter type per sample
  • port statistics reset/clear state
