Description: Configures NTP/SNTP time synchronization server addresses and synchronization intervals.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-TIMESYNCHRONIZATION-MIB?

RADLAN-TIMESYNCHRONIZATION-MIB is a RAD Data Communications (RADlan) private enterprise MIB for configuring and monitoring NTP/SNTP-based time synchronization on network devices built on RADlan's embedded switch management stack (used by many rebranded/white-label switch vendors). It exposes the device's current managed time/date (rndTimeSyncManagedTime/Date/DateTime), the sync method and mode in use, time zone and daylight-saving-time configuration, and SNTP/NTP client settings. From a monitoring standpoint this is a software configuration/status MIB focused on clock accuracy — an operator uses it to confirm the device's system clock is correctly synchronized to an NTP/SNTP source and that time zone/DST settings are correctly applied, which matters for accurate event-log timestamps and certificate validation elsewhere on the device. It depends on the standard SNTP/NTP protocols (RFC 2030/5905 family) that its client settings configure. It is typically deployed on RADlan-based managed Ethernet switches across many rebranded switch vendors that license RADlan's management core. Engineers can download the RADLAN-TIMESYNCHRONIZATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-TIMESYNCHRONIZATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based (RADlan core) MIB used across many rebranded switch vendors
  • managed Ethernet switches built on RADlan's embedded management stack

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll rlTimeSyncMethod and rlTimeSyncMethodMode to confirm whether the device is set to sync via SNTP or NTP, then check rndTimeSyncManagedDateTime against a reference clock to detect drift or a failed sync (e.g. stuck at a stale date). rlDaylightSavingTimeMode/Start/End/Offset would be checked after a DST transition to confirm the device correctly adjusted its local time. rlSntpNtpClient and rlSntpNtpConfig hold the actual configured time-server settings the sync method relies on.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current managed system date/time
  • time synchronization method (NTP/SNTP)
  • time zone and DST configuration
  • configured NTP/SNTP server settings
  • sync mode/status
