What Is RADLAN-MGMD-ROUTER-MIB?
RADLAN-MGMD-ROUTER-MIB is a vendor-specific private MIB from RADLAN/Marvell providing extended statistics and configuration for the multicast group membership discovery (IGMP/MLD) router-side function on a switch acting as an IGMP/MLD querier. It exposes per-interface extended statistics including uptime, enable state for stats collection, counts of failed joins, and message counts broken down by IGMPv1/v2/v3 and MLDv1/v2 versions, along with counts of general and specific queries sent and invalid messages received. Its monitoring role is protocol health and multicast performance tracking — detecting failed group joins, unexpected protocol version mixes, or invalid message floods that indicate misbehaving hosts or a multicast routing misconfiguration — which is a software/protocol-status monitoring function rather than hardware health. It builds on the IETF IGMP/MLD standards (and likely the IGMP-MIB conceptually) while adding RADLAN-specific extended counters. It is typically deployed on RADLAN/Marvell-based Layer 3 switches acting as IGMP/MLD queriers in multicast-enabled networks such as IPTV deployments. Engineers can download the RADLAN-MGMD-ROUTER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-MGMD-ROUTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- RADLAN/Marvell-based Layer 3 managed switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll rlMgmdInterfaceExtTable/rlMgmdInterfaceExtEntry for rlMgmdRouterInterfaceExtNumFailedJoins and rlMgmdRouterInterfaceExtNumInvalidMsgsRcvd to detect hosts failing to join multicast groups or sending malformed IGMP/MLD messages on a given interface. A rising rlMgmdRouterInterfaceExtNumFailedJoins count alongside version counters showing an unexpected mix of rlMgmdRouterInterfaceExtNumIgmpV1Msgs on a network expected to run IGMPv3 would flag a misconfigured or legacy host disrupting multicast delivery.
What Can Be Monitored
- interface uptime and stats enable state
- failed multicast group joins
- IGMP/MLD message counts by version
- invalid messages received
- general/specific queries sent
