Category: DHCP, Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB

Description: Configures DHCPv6 relay agent forwarding of IPv6 DHCP messages between clients and servers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-DHCPv6-RELAY?

RADLAN-DHCPv6-RELAY is a private Marvell/Radlan switch MIB configuring the DHCPv6 relay agent that forwards IPv6 DHCP messages between clients and servers across interfaces and VLANs. It exposes per-interface relay enablement plus global and per-interface destination tables that define which DHCPv6 servers relayed traffic is sent to. Its monitoring value is software/service-oriented: interface and destination row status reveal whether the relay path to a given DHCPv6 server is actually configured and active, which directly affects whether IPv6 clients can obtain addresses. It builds on the DHCPv6 protocol defined in RFC 3315 and depends on IF-MIB-style ifIndex references and IPv6 address typing conventions from SNMPv2-TC/INET-ADDRESS-MIB. It is deployed in IPv6-enabled networks that need centralized DHCPv6 server relay across multiple subnets or VLANs, where RADLAN-DHCPv6-RELAY SNMP monitoring confirms relay paths remain correctly configured and active.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-DHCPv6-RELAY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Marvell/Radlan-based managed switch

Monitoring Examples

rlDhcpv6RelayInterfaceListTable/Entry, indexed by rlDhcpv6RelayInterfaceListIfIndex, uses rlDhcpv6RelayInterfaceListRowStatus to show whether relay is active on a given interface. rlDhcpv6RelayDestinationsGlobalTable holds global relay destination addresses (rlDhcpv6RelayDestinationsGlobalIpv6Addr) and their rlDhcpv6RelayDestinationsGlobalOutputInterface; an admin would poll these to verify relay destinations are correctly configured, and a destroyed or inactive row would explain IPv6 clients failing to get addresses. rlDhcpv6RelayInterfaceDestinationsTable extends this per-interface for more granular destination overrides.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCPv6 relay enable status per interface
  • configured relay destination IPv6 addresses
  • relay destination row/operational status
  • output interface used for relayed messages
  • per-interface DHCPv6 relay destination overrides
