Description: Configures DHCPv6 client operation for IPv6 address acquisition on management interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-DHCPv6-CLIENT?

RADLAN-DHCPv6-CLIENT is a private Radlan/Marvell MIB module for configuring and monitoring DHCPv6 client operation used to acquire IPv6 addresses and prefixes on management or routed interfaces of a switch. It exposes per-interface DHCPv6 client configuration such as prefix delegation and stateless mode settings, along with status objects reporting refresh timers and information-refresh values received from the DHCPv6 server. In terms of software status monitoring, it lets an administrator verify that the DHCPv6 client process on a given interface is actively obtaining and refreshing its lease/configuration information rather than stalled or unsupported. It builds on the IETF DHCPv6 protocol concepts (RFC 3315) as implemented in vendor firmware. It is typically deployed on Radlan/Marvell-based managed switches, where administrators consult the RADLAN-DHCPv6-CLIENT MIB to support IPv6 management addressing.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-DHCPv6-CLIENT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Radlan/Marvell-based managed switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll rlDhcpv6ClientTable entries indexed by rlDhcpv6ClientIfIndex to check rlDhcpv6ClientPd and rlDhcpv6ClientStateless flags, confirming which mode (prefix delegation vs. stateless) is active on an interface. Watching rlDhcpv6ClientInfoRefreshReceived versus rlDhcpv6ClientInfoRefreshConf would reveal whether the server is honoring the configured refresh interval or if the client has stopped refreshing, indicating loss of IPv6 management connectivity. rlDhcpv6ClientSupported indicates whether the platform/interface even supports DHCPv6 client operation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DHCPv6 client enable state per interface
  • prefix delegation mode
  • stateless mode
  • information refresh interval
  • information refresh received/remaining time
  • reconfigure support
