Category: System Management, Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB

Description: Controls file copy operations for transferring configurations and firmware images.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-COPY-MIB?

RADLAN-COPY-MIB is a private Marvell/Radlan switch MIB that manages file-copy operations used to transfer firmware images and configuration files to and from the switch, similar in purpose to vendor FTP/copy MIBs on other platforms. It exposes a copy-job table describing the source and destination locations, IP addresses, filenames, and file types involved in each transfer. This is fundamentally a software-management MIB: the job's fields let an operator track whether a firmware upgrade or configuration backup/restore job is in progress, completed, or failed, functioning as a job/task status indicator for switch software maintenance. It likely follows common SNMP row-based operation-table conventions (RowStatus-style semantics from SNMPv2-TC) though no explicit external MIB dependency is stated. It is used whenever administrators or NMS tools push firmware images or configuration files to switches via SNMP-driven automation, such as scheduled firmware upgrade campaigns. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the RADLAN-COPY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-COPY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Marvell/Radlan-based managed switch

Monitoring Examples

rlCopyTable/rlCopyEntry, indexed by rlCopyIndex, tracks a job's rlCopyApplicationId, rlCopySourceLocation, rlCopySourceIpAddress, rlCopySourceFileName/rlCopySourceFileType, and rlCopyDestinationLocation/rlCopyDestinationIpAddress. An admin triggering a firmware download would poll this table to watch the job progress and confirm completion; a stalled entry with an unreachable rlCopySourceIpAddress would indicate a failed firmware transfer. rlCopyMirror can additionally be checked to confirm whether the copy included the mirrored/backup image slot.

What Can Be Monitored

  • file/firmware copy job status
  • source and destination file locations
  • copy source/destination IP address
  • file type being transferred
  • mirrored image copy state
