What Is RADLAN-CDB-MIB?

RADLAN-CDB-MIB is a small vendor-specific private MIB from RADLAN/Marvell that manages the switch's configuration database (CDB) — the persistent store for device configuration used across boots. It exposes a handful of scalar status/control objects reflecting whether the startup configuration has changed since last save, whether the startup configuration is empty (e.g. on a factory-fresh unit), and whether a manual reboot has been triggered. Its monitoring value is primarily software/configuration-state awareness — detecting unsaved configuration changes that would be lost on reboot, or an empty/factory-default configuration state that signals the device hasn't been provisioned yet, rather than hardware sensor monitoring. It is a proprietary module with no dependency on standards-based configuration MIBs. It is typically used on RADLAN/Marvell-based managed switches by provisioning/monitoring tools that need to verify configuration persistence state before or after a maintenance reboot, and a RADLAN-CDB-MIB download is often the first step toward loading these objects into such a tool.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-CDB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • unsaved configuration change status
  • empty/factory-default configuration state
  • manual reboot flag

Supported Devices

  • RADLAN/Marvell-based managed Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

A provisioning tool would check rlStartupCDBChanged before triggering a reboot to warn if there are unsaved configuration changes that would be lost, and check rlStartupCDBEmpty after a factory reset or new device deployment to confirm the device still needs initial configuration. rlManualReboot could be polled or watched to detect that an administrator (rather than a crash) initiated the last restart.
