Description: Manages switch stack topology, unit roles, and inter-unit link configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RADLAN-STACK-MIB?
RADLAN-STACK-MIB is a vendor-specific private MIB from RADLAN/Marvell managing switch stacking — the ability to interconnect multiple physical switch units so they operate and are managed as a single logical switch. It exposes the currently active unit ID within the stack, the unit ID and unit mode that will take effect after a reset, and the MAC address a unit will use after reset, tracking stack topology and role assignment across member units. Its monitoring role is hardware/topology status tracking — confirming which physical unit is acting as the stack master, whether a pending unit ID or mode change is scheduled to take effect on next reboot, and stack member identity via MAC address — which reveals stack instability or unexpected master role changes. It is a proprietary stacking implementation with no direct standards-based equivalent, though it parallels stacking concepts in other vendors' MIBs. It is typically deployed on RADLAN/Marvell-based stackable switches in wiring closets or aggregation points where multiple physical units are managed as one logical switch, and RADLAN-STACK-MIB SNMP monitoring gives administrators visibility into stack topology and master role stability.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-STACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Marvell/RADLAN-based stackable managed Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll rlStackCurrentUnitId to confirm which physical unit is currently the active stack member (master), and check rlStackActiveUnitIdTable/rlStackActiveUnitIdEntry alongside rlStackActiveUnitIdAfterReset and rlStackUnitModeAfterReset to see if a pending unit ID or mode change is scheduled for the next reboot. If rlStackCurrentUnitId changes unexpectedly between polls without an administrator-initiated reboot, that would indicate an unplanned stack master failover or a unit dropping out of the stack.
What Can Be Monitored
- current active stack unit ID
- pending unit ID after reset
- pending unit mode after reset
- unit MAC address after reset
