Category: Server Hardware Monitoring
Description: Provides NEC ESMPRO ServerAgents trap notifications for GDS multipath disk driver fault and path state events on Linux.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PSA-LinGdsTrap-MIB?
PSA-LinGdsTrap-MIB is a vendor-specific NEC enterprise MIB, part of the ESMPRO ServerAgent suite, defining SNMP trap notifications emitted by the GDS (Global Disk Services) multipath disk driver on NEC PC servers running Linux. Rather than exposing polled data tables, it defines notification objects carrying event-level, event-ID, and identifying information about the affected server and storage path. It is explicitly a fault/hardware-status monitoring MIB: its traps signal multipath disk driver events such as a failed I/O path or path recovery, letting an admin detect storage path redundancy loss on a server before a second path failure causes an outage. It shares the common NEC ESMPRO enterprise trap variable-binding structure used across the whole PSA-*Trap-MIB family. It is typically deployed on NEC Express5800-series (or similar) Linux servers running multipath storage with GDS, where PSA-LinGdsTrap-MIB SNMP monitoring reports storage path failures into the ESMPRO management console or an NMS.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PSA-LinGdsTrap-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server partition, Linux, GDS multipath disk driver (fault traps)
Monitoring Examples
The trap varbinds trapEventLevel and trapEventId identify the severity and type of the multipath event, trapUnitName/trapSerialNo/trapModelNo identify the affected server, and trapPartitionName/trapPartitionId/trapSuspect identify the affected disk partition/path; an admin receiving such a trap would correlate these fields to determine which server and which storage path failed. As with other PSA-*Trap-MIB modules, monitoring here is event/trap-driven rather than via periodic polling of a data table.
What Can Be Monitored
- multipath disk path fault/event notifications
- event severity level
- affected server identity (name/serial/model)
- affected disk partition identity
