Category: QoS and Traffic Management

Description: Manages BATM Advanced Communication Hierarchical QoS (HQoS) scheduler configuration, queue weights, and shaping parameters.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PRVT-HQOS-MIB?

PRVT-HQOS-MIB is a BATM Advanced Communications proprietary MIB for configuring Hierarchical Quality of Service (HQoS) on their Carrier Ethernet switch products, covering service-level ingress/egress queue scheduling, weighting, and shaping. It exposes tables for service ingress instances and their associated queues, including weighted fair queuing (WFQ) weights, WRED congestion-avoidance parameters, and policer settings. While primarily a configuration MIB, it also supports monitoring by exposing row-status and queue-configuration state that reveals whether QoS policies are correctly provisioned and active on a given service, useful for diagnosing traffic prioritization or congestion issues. As a private enterprise MIB it has no significant standards-based MIB dependency beyond core SNMP framework MIBs. It is deployed on BATM Advanced Communications Carrier Ethernet switches (T-Metro family) used by service providers to enforce differentiated QoS across customer services. Engineers can download the PRVT-HQOS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-HQOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • BATM Advanced Communications Carrier Ethernet switches (T-Metro family)

Monitoring Examples

An operator can poll prvtHqosSvcIngTable via prvtHqosSvcIngId and prvtHqosSvcIngRowStatus to confirm a service ingress QoS profile is properly provisioned and active, then drill into prvtHqosSvcIngQueueTable to check prvtHqosSvcIngQueueServWfq weight values and prvtHqosSvcIngQueueWred settings for a specific queue. If prvtHqosSvcIngQueuePolicer values don't match expected rate limits, it can explain unexpected packet drops or bandwidth throttling on a customer service.

What Can Be Monitored

  • service ingress QoS instance status
  • per-queue WFQ scheduling weights
  • WRED congestion-avoidance configuration
  • queue policer/rate-limit settings
  • queue row status
