Description: Manages BATM Advanced Communication load balancing configuration for traffic distribution across multiple uplinks or paths.

What Is PRVT-LOAD-BALANCE-MIB?
PRVT-LOAD-BALANCE-MIB is a private/vendor MIB (associated with BATM Advanced Communications equipment) covering load-balancing/traffic-distribution functionality, a networking technology area concerned with spreading traffic across multiple uplinks, paths, or interfaces. It exposes configuration of the distribution algorithm mode - including separate modes for general, IPv6, and SPI-based traffic - plus a load-balance matrix table and a per-interface table that map traffic to distribution buckets. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration/operational-state based: confirming which distribution mode and hashing signature is active, how many buckets are defined per matrix entry, and which interfaces participate in load distribution, which helps detect misconfigured or unbalanced traffic-splitting behavior. No explicit dependency on standard IETF MIBs is indicated beyond the vendor's own private enterprise tree. It is deployed on BATM network devices (such as aggregation or edge switches) that need to distribute traffic across multiple physical or logical uplinks for redundancy or throughput, and administrators can download the PRVT-LOAD-BALANCE-MIB file to load into their MIB browser for configuration reference.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-LOAD-BALANCE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- BATM Advanced Communications network switch/aggregation device
Monitoring Examples
An admin would check prvtLoadBalDistributionMode alongside prvtLoadBalIpV6DistributionMode and prvtLoadBalSpiDistributionMode to confirm the correct hashing algorithm is applied per traffic type, then inspect prvtLoadBalMtxTable/prvtLoadBalMtxEntry for prvtLoadBalMtxBuckets and prvtLoadBalMtxSignature to verify the bucket count and hash signature match expected configuration. Polling prvtLoadBalIfTable/prvtLoadBalIfEntry by prvtLoadBalIfId would show which interfaces are enrolled in load balancing, revealing an interface accidentally left out of the distribution set and therefore carrying disproportionate traffic.
What Can Be Monitored
- active load-balancing distribution mode
- IPv6 distribution mode
- SPI-based distribution mode
- load-balance matrix bucket count
- per-interface load-balancing membership
