Description: Manages BATM Advanced Communication Built-In Self-Test (BIST) execution, results, and hardware diagnostic status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PRVT-BIST-MIB?
PRVT-BIST-MIB is a vendor MIB from BATM Advanced Communication for managing Built-In Self-Test (BIST) functionality on its networking hardware. It exposes objects to trigger self-test execution and to retrieve results from specific hardware component tests, notably CPU and RAM diagnostic tests. This is directly a hardware health monitoring MIB: it allows an administrator to run and check CPU and RAM diagnostic tests on demand and review pass/fail results, which is valuable for confirming a board's hardware integrity after a suspected fault or before returning it to service. It is a self-contained proprietary MIB without apparent dependency on external standard MIBs, though its notification objects likely integrate with SNMPv2 trap conventions. It is deployed on BATM Advanced Communication network devices (such as switches or media converters) where field diagnostics are needed to validate hardware before or during troubleshooting. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the PRVT-BIST-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-BIST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- BATM Advanced Communication network device
Monitoring Examples
An admin would set bistSelfTestExecute to trigger a diagnostic run and then poll bistSelfTestExecuteStatus to see if it completed, then check cPUTestTable/cPUTestEntry for cpuTestResult and ramTestTable/ramTestEntry for ramTestResult to see whether the CPU and RAM passed. A ramTestResult indicating failure after a device exhibits erratic behavior would point to a failing memory module needing hardware replacement. The uartExistTestTable further confirms presence of a UART interface as part of the same self-test suite.
What Can Be Monitored
- self-test execution status
- CPU test result
- RAM test result
- UART presence test result
