Description: Documents Ericsson SmartEdge SNMP agent capabilities for the SFP optical transceiver MIB on SmartEdge series BRAS.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RBN-SFP-CAP?

RBN-SFP-CAP is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module for Ericsson (formerly Redback) SmartEdge platforms, documenting which parts of the companion RBN-SFP-MIB (covering SFP optical transceiver inventory/status) are implemented for a given SEOS software release and SmartEdge product family. As a conformance module it defines no runtime data objects itself; it only declares supported groups and object variations of the base SFP MIB across the SE/SM/SSR product families. It therefore has no direct monitoring role, though it governs which SFP transceiver hardware objects (such as optical power, temperature, or vendor/serial identification typically found in SFP MIBs) can be expected to be present on a particular platform/version. It explicitly depends on and documents conformance to RBN-SFP-MIB. It is used by NMS/MIB-tooling for compatibility validation against Ericsson SmartEdge deployments, not for live device monitoring, making the RBN-SFP-CAP MIB primarily a reference artifact for tooling compatibility checks.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RBN-SFP-CAP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson SmartEdge (SE/SM/SSR family) router running SEOS

Monitoring Examples

This module is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance statement with no runtime data objects of its own, so no live monitoring scenario applies; its function is to declare which groups and object variations of RBN-SFP-MIB (the SFP optical transceiver MIB) are supported per SEOS version and product family (SE/SM/SSR).
