What Is PERF-STAT-MIB?

PERF-STAT-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Sitara Networks (QOSWorks) covering performance and quality-of-service (QoS) statistics on managed network traffic flows. It exposes objects for system CPU usage and per-policy flow statistics such as policy type and class-based queuing (CBQ) name, aimed at reporting throughput, latency, and packet loss for policy-managed traffic. Its monitoring focus is on both device software/CPU load (via sitaraPerfSysCPUUsage) and traffic performance, letting an operator watch for CPU exhaustion on the QoS engine as well as degraded per-flow performance under policy enforcement. It is a proprietary Sitara MIB that does not appear to lean on external standard MIBs for its object definitions. It is typically deployed in WAN optimization or QoS-shaping appliances where administrators need visibility into how bandwidth policies are performing in real time. Engineers can download the PERF-STAT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PERF-STAT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll sitaraPerfSysCPUUsage to ensure the QOSWorks appliance's CPU is not saturated by policy processing, and cross-reference sitaraPerfPlcyType and sitaraPerfPlcyCbqName to identify which specific policy class is consuming the most system resources. A sustained high sitaraPerfSysCPUUsage correlated with a particular sitaraPerfPlcyCbqName would reveal that a specific traffic class's shaping policy is overloading the device. This helps administrators tune CBQ policies before packet loss becomes noticeable to end users.
