Category: Products/Registration, WAN

Description: Manages Peplink Balance multi-WAN routers, providing WAN link status, load-balancing policy, and per-link traffic statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PEPLINK-BALANCE-MIB?

PEPLINK-BALANCE-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for Peplink Balance multi-WAN routers, which load-balance and fail over traffic across multiple internet/WAN connections. It exposes system identification and status (firmware version, serial number, uptime, time), LAN configuration (IP address, subnet mask, link status), and a per-WAN-link table with connection counts and link naming. Its monitoring value spans both software and hardware/link status: balFirmware reveals the running firmware version for update tracking, balUpTime indicates device availability/reboot history, balLanStatus reports LAN interface health, and linkTable/linkEntry with linkConnNum and linkName let an admin see per-WAN-link connection load and identify a failed or saturated link. As a compact SOHO/SMB router MIB it stands largely on its own, though it can be paired with standard IF-MIB for physical interface counters. It is typically deployed in small-to-medium branch or retail sites using Peplink Balance appliances for WAN bonding/failover. Engineers can download the PEPLINK-BALANCE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PEPLINK-BALANCE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Peplink Balance multi-WAN router

Monitoring Examples

An admin monitoring WAN health would iterate linkTable/linkEntry to read linkName and linkConnNum for each of the balLinkNumber WAN links, watching for a link whose connection count drops to zero (indicating failover or outage) while balanceStatus and balLanStatus confirm overall device and LAN health. balUpTime dropping unexpectedly signals an unplanned reboot, and balFirmware is checked during audits to confirm all branch routers run a consistent, patched firmware version. balSerialNumber and balLanIp/balLanSubnetMask round out asset identification for inventory purposes.

What Can Be Monitored

  • firmware version
  • system uptime
  • LAN interface status/IP
  • per-WAN-link connection count
  • WAN link name/identity
