Category: Firewall, Security

Description: Defines packet filter rule configuration, classifiers, and traffic-counter objects for access control on Paradyne xDSL equipment.

What Is PDN-FILTER-MIB?

PDN-FILTER-MIB is a Paradyne enterprise MIB defining packet-filter rule configuration, traffic classifiers, and related traffic counters used for access control on Paradyne xDSL access equipment. It exposes tables of IP filter configuration and filter-rule configuration per device, along with service/network-identifier (SNInjection) objects and a filter-related trap group. This supports software/security configuration status monitoring: an administrator uses it to confirm that access-control filter rules are correctly present and enabled on a given DSL access device, and to be alerted via filter-related traps when a rule changes or a filtering condition is triggered, which is important for catching misconfigured or bypassed access controls on subscriber lines. It builds on general IP packet-filtering concepts within Paradyne's own proprietary enterprise MIB tree, alongside other Paradyne (later Zhone) DSL-equipment MIBs. It is deployed on Paradyne/Zhone xDSL access equipment such as DSL access multiplexers or modems in ISP access networks enforcing subscriber-level traffic filtering. Engineers can download the PDN-FILTER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-FILTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne/Zhone xDSL access equipment (DSL access multiplexers, modems)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would inspect sysDevIpFilterConfigTableEntry and sysDevIpFilterRuleConfigTableEntry rows to confirm a specific IP filter rule is configured and active on a DSL access line, and would check sysDevSNInjectionType/sysDevSNInjectionVnid to verify service/VLAN injection settings tied to that filtering policy. Receiving a notification from sysDevFilterMIBTraps would reveal that a filter rule was changed or triggered on a subscriber's line, prompting a check for unauthorized access or a misapplied policy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP filter rule configuration per device
  • filter rule table entries
  • service/VNID injection type configuration
  • filter-related trap notifications
