Category: DSL and Broadband

Description: Provides system-level management for Paradyne DSLAM equipment, including chassis inventory, slot status, and system-wide configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-DSLAM-SYSTEM-MIB?

PDN-DSLAM-SYSTEM-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Paradyne Networks providing system-level management for Paradyne DSLAM chassis, covering interface-level configuration, trap/notification setup, and system statistics across the multiplexer. It exposes objects for packet discard policy and link integrity per interface, community-based trap destination configuration (including trap-enable flags and destination address/port), and an entity community table alongside general system statistics objects. Its monitoring scope spans both software/configuration status and system-wide fault reporting — trapsEnable and the community trap destination table govern how the DSLAM notifies management stations of events, while devLinkIntegrity and sysDevStats provide ongoing system and link health indicators for the chassis. It builds on standard SNMP trap/community and Entity MIB-style conventions (entCommunityTable) for its notification and multi-community structure. It is deployed as the system-management layer on Paradyne central-office DSLAM chassis, working alongside PDN-DS1CONFIG-MIB and PDN-DS3EXT-MIB to give complete visibility into both individual circuits and overall chassis health. Engineers can download the PDN-DSLAM-SYSTEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-DSLAM-SYSTEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne central-office DSLAM chassis

Monitoring Examples

An administrator configures communityTrapAddressInfoTable/Entry with trapCommunityName and trapDestAndPort to direct DSLAM traps to a specific NMS station, and confirms trapsEnable is set so that fault notifications actually fire. Polling devLinkIntegrity per interface reveals which DSLAM ports are experiencing physical link problems, while sysDevStats gives an aggregate view of system-wide error or utilization statistics. A DSLAM configured with trapsEnable off would silently fail to notify the NMS of link integrity problems, making this a key setting to verify during initial deployment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • link integrity per port
  • packet discard policy
  • trap destination configuration
  • trap enable status
  • system-wide statistics
