Category: Products/Registration, Server/Systems Management

Description: Monitors BMC PATROL IT systems management agent status, managed object counts, event queues, and agent-to-console connectivity.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PATROL-MIB?

PATROL-MIB is a BMC Software (Patrol Development Group, enterprise OID 1031) proprietary MIB for the PATROL systems-monitoring agent, exposing a PSL (PATROL Scripting Language) command interface. Its objects cover a command-execute action, current-working-directory, an objects table (name, description, row status), a variables table (name, type, value, description, row status), and an applications table (name, state, worst instance, master/minor version, row status, OID) with a companion instance table. As a status/configuration MIB it lets an administrator execute PSL commands and read monitored-object state remotely via SNMP on a BMC PATROL agent. It is deployed on BMC Software PATROL-monitored systems. Engineers can download the PATROL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PATROL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • BMC Software PATROL-monitored systems

Monitoring Examples

An administrator sets agentExecuteCommand to remotely run a PSL script against a monitored application on a BMC PATROL agent.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PSL command execution and monitored-application state
