What Is Cajun-ROOT?

Cajun-ROOT is a Lucent Technologies MIB defining the OID root and registration hierarchy for the Cajun series of switch/router products (including the p550, p660, and p880 platforms), establishing branches such as cajunRtrProduct, cjnSystem, and cjnProtocol under which specific Cajun product MIBs register. It contains only naming/registration nodes and no runtime data objects itself, so it exposes no direct monitorable hardware or software status—no uptime, counters, or sensor data are defined here. All actual device health, interface, and protocol status data lives in the sibling Cajun MIB modules that register beneath the cjnSystem and cjnProtocol branches. It depends on the Lucent enterprise SMI numbering scheme (the "lucent"/"products"/"mibs" branches) that it builds upon. It is deployed solely as organizational infrastructure alongside the functional Cajun switch/router MIBs managing Lucent Cajun p550/p660/p880 hardware. The Cajun-ROOT MIB is typically consulted only when resolving OID conflicts among the various Cajun product modules that register beneath its cjnSystem and cjnProtocol branches.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Cajun-ROOT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Lucent Cajun p550/p660/p880 series switches/routers

Monitoring Examples

With only registration nodes (lucent, products, mibs, cajunRtrProduct, cjnSystem, cjnProtocol) and no data-bearing objects, this module provides no runtime monitoring scenario itself—it is a root/naming MIB. Real system and protocol status polling for Cajun p550/p660/p880 switches would be performed via the specific product MIBs that register their tables beneath the cjnSystem and cjnProtocol branches.
