What Is PANDATEL-FXG-MODEM-MIB?

PANDATEL-FXG-MODEM-MIB is an enterprise MIB for Pandatel's FXG series fiber-extender/gigabit modems, used to extend Ethernet/fiber links in telecom access networks. It exposes per-modem identification (rack/position), alarm status, remote-access mode, clock recovery, and operation mode settings. Its core monitoring purpose is hardware/link status: mdmAlarm and mdmInterfaceAlarmCondition directly report modem and line faults such as loss of signal or sync, letting an operator detect a failing modem or a degrading fiber segment. It is a standalone Pandatel enterprise MIB with no notable dependency on standard IETF MIBs. It is deployed in rack-mounted modem shelves providing fiber-to-copper or gigabit link extension in carrier access networks. Engineers can download the PANDATEL-FXG-MODEM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PANDATEL-FXG-MODEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • modem alarm status
  • interface alarm condition
  • clock recovery mode
  • operation mode
  • remote access mode
  • rack/position identification

Supported Devices

  • Pandatel FXG series fiber extender/gigabit modems

Monitoring Examples

fxgModemTable/fxgTableEntry, indexed by mdmRack, mdmModem, and mdmPosition, exposes mdmModemName, mdmAlarm, mdmInterfaceAlarmCondition, mdmClockRecovery, and mdmOperationMode. An administrator polling mdmAlarm across a rack would notice mdmInterfaceAlarmCondition indicating an active alarm on one modem, flagging a line fault such as loss-of-signal on that specific fiber-extender unit. This pinpoints exactly which rack position needs a technician visit or fiber inspection.
