What Is PAIRGAIN-DS1-MIB?

PAIRGAIN-DS1-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from PairGain Technologies, used within its Avidia DSL access system to manage DS1 (T1) line interfaces on its access equipment. It exposes DS1 line configuration data such as line build-out settings, indexed per physical line and per interface, tied to the T1 circuits carried by the chassis. Its monitoring value centers on hardware line status - confirming DS1 line configuration is correct, which in conjunction with standard DS1 performance counters helps explain line errors, loss of signal, or degraded circuit quality on the T1 interface. This module supplements and depends on the standard IETF DS1/E1 MIB (RFC 1406/2495-style) for full DS1 performance and alarm object coverage, adding PairGain-specific configuration objects on top. It's deployed on PairGain Avidia DSL access multiplexer/carrier systems in telco central offices or remote terminals delivering T1 circuits to subscribers. Engineers can download the PAIRGAIN-DS1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PAIRGAIN-DS1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • PairGain Avidia DSL access system (DS1/T1 line cards)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would look up pgds1ConfigTable/pgds1ConfigEntry by pgds1LineIndex and pgds1IfIndex to verify the pgds1LineBuildout setting matches the cable run length for a given T1 circuit, since an incorrect build-out value causes signal attenuation errors. This vendor table is typically cross-referenced with the standard DS1 MIB's performance and alarm tables (indexed by the same ifIndex) to correlate configuration with observed line errors.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS1 line build-out configuration
  • DS1 line-to-interface index mapping
  • T1 line configuration status
