Description: MIB for OSPFv2 Multi-topology routing extensions, managing per-topology areas and interfaces on routers running OSPFv2 (Cisco/F5)

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OSPFv2-MT-MIB?

OSPFv2-MT-MIB is a standards-track IETF MIB (published as an Internet-Draft/RFC in progress under Internet Society copyright) that extends the standard OSPFv2-MIB to support Multi-Topology (MT) routing, where a router maintains separate topologies (e.g., for different traffic classes) within a single OSPF domain. Because no sample objects were supplied for this batch, the specific per-topology table names cannot be confirmed here, but by design such a MIB would expose per-topology area and interface configuration and status objects layered on top of the base OSPF areas and interfaces. As a routing-protocol extension MIB it is primarily used to confirm the software-level operational correctness of multi-topology OSPF, for example whether each topology's areas and interfaces are in the expected state, rather than physical hardware health. It explicitly requires and extends the base OSPFv2-MIB (RFC 4750), and depends on standard OSPF and SNMPv2-SMI/TC conventions. It is typically deployed on routers (from vendors such as Cisco or F5, per available context) that implement OSPF Multi-Topology Routing (RFC 4915) for traffic engineering or service differentiation. Engineers can download the OSPFv2-MT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OSPFv2-MT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • router implementing OSPF Multi-Topology Routing (vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB)

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this MIB, so a grounded technical monitoring example cannot be given; based on the module description, one would expect per-topology extensions to the standard ospfAreaTable and ospfIfTable, but their exact object names are not confirmed here.
