Category: Database

Description: Provides SNMP management objects for the Oracle SNMP agent process status and configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ORACLE-AGENT-MIB?

This Oracle Corporation vendor MIB monitors the health and event activity of the Oracle SNMP management agent process itself, part of Oracle's systems-management instrumentation for database and application servers. It exposes an event/alert table capturing individual agent events, each tagged with a service, severity, timestamp, user, and application context. Its monitoring focus is software/process status: tracking the Oracle agent's event history and severity levels functions as an early-warning log for agent or service-level problems, rather than physical hardware sensors. It sits within Oracle's broader enterprise OID tree and is typically used alongside other Oracle product MIBs (e.g., database instrumentation) for full-stack visibility. It is deployed on Oracle database or application server hosts that run an Oracle SNMP agent integrated with an enterprise management system. Engineers can download the ORACLE-AGENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ORACLE-AGENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Oracle database/application server running the Oracle SNMP agent

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls oraAgentEventTable to review recent events, each row keyed by oraAgentEventIndex and describing oraAgentEventName, oraAgentEventService, and oraAgentEventSeverity; a run of high-severity rows for the same oraAgentEventService points to a recurring Oracle service problem. oraAgentEventUser and oraAgentEventAppID identify which user or application triggered the event, while oraAgentEventMessage and oraAgentEventArguments give the human-readable detail needed for triage.

What Can Be Monitored

  • agent event log entries
  • event severity
  • originating service
  • event timestamp
  • user/application context
  • event message detail
