Description: Monitors Oracle Names directory service process status and name resolution statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ORANAMES-MIB?

ORANAMES-MIB is an Oracle Corporation proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 111, built on NETWORK-SERVICES-MIB) reporting Oracle Names (TNS, Transparent Network Substrate naming service) server configuration and status. Its TNS table records start date, trace/security level, parameter/log/trace file paths, state, contact, listen addresses (with failed-listen-addresses), a reload action, and running time, while a configuration table records admin region, authority-required flag, auto-refresh expire/retry, cache/config checkpoint file/interval, and default forwarders settings. As a configuration/status MIB it lets a DBA confirm an Oracle Names server's listen addresses and state, and trigger a configuration reload. It is deployed on Oracle Names (TNS) servers. Engineers can download the ORANAMES-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ORANAMES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Oracle Names (TNS) servers

Monitoring Examples

A DBA checks oraNamesTNSstate and oraNamesTNSlistenAddresses to confirm an Oracle Names server is listening and healthy, then triggers oraNamesTNSreload after a config change.

What Can Be Monitored
