Description: Provides SNMP management objects for monitoring Sun/Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise server platform hardware status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OPL-SP-MIB?

OPL-SP-MIB is a joint Sun Microsystems/Fujitsu MIB for the service processor of Sun/Fujitsu's SPARC Enterprise OPL (M-series) high-end UNIX servers, providing SNMP access to the platform's service-processor management data. It exposes service-processor-level configuration and status data, including an agent identification/table, XCP (cross-platform service processor) firmware version, and the service processor's own IP address configuration. It is used to monitor the hardware/software status of the server's service processor itself, confirming the running XCP firmware version, service processor identity, and network reachability (IP address), which is the foundation for remote out-of-band hardware management, console access, and fault reporting on the OPL platform. As a joint Sun/Fujitsu private MIB it has no notable dependency on external standard MIBs, though it works alongside the platform's broader hardware-management infrastructure. It's typically deployed on Sun/Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise M-series servers in enterprise data centers where administrators manage the server out-of-band via its dedicated service processor. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the OPL-SP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OPL-SP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Sun/Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise (M-series) server

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls scfAgentTable/scfAgentEntry (via scfAgentIndex) to identify the active service-processor agent and reads scfXcpVersion to confirm the running XCP firmware build. scfIpAddressTable/scfIpAddressEntry (with scfIpAddressIndex, scfIpAddress, and scfIpAddressPortNumber) exposes the service processor's own management IP address and port, letting an operator verify out-of-band network reachability. A service processor reporting an unexpected or outdated scfXcpVersion, or an scfIpAddress that doesn't match the expected management network, would indicate a firmware or network misconfiguration on the service processor itself.

What Can Be Monitored

  • service processor agent identity
  • XCP firmware version
  • service processor IP address/port configuration
  • service processor state
