Category: CPE/Router

Description: Manages cellular WAN interface status, signal quality, and data session statistics on OneAccess CPE routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ONEACCESS-CELLULAR-MIB?

ONEACCESS-CELLULAR-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from OneAccess covering cellular WAN interfaces on OneAccess customer-premises equipment (CPE) routers, which use 3G/4G modems as primary or backup WAN links. It exposes cellular-specific data including radio signal quality (RSSI), historical signal statistics over rolling hour and day windows, and general cellular session/interface status. Its monitoring value lies in tracking the health and performance of the cellular WAN connection, particularly signal strength trends that can explain intermittent connectivity or throughput problems on a cellular-backed branch router. It is used alongside standard interface MIBs (such as IF-MIB) since the cellular interface is exposed as a logical interface, and it likely depends on those conventions for interface indexing. It is typically deployed in branch-office or retail routers where a cellular modem provides primary or failover WAN connectivity, monitored centrally by a network operations team. Engineers can download the ONEACCESS-CELLULAR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ONEACCESS-CELLULAR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • OneAccess CPE router
  • cellular WAN gateway/router

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll oacCellRadioRssi for the current signal strength and cross-reference it against oacCellRssiLastHourTable entries (oacCellRssiLastHourMin, oacCellRssiLastHourAvg, oacCellRssiLastHourMax) to see whether signal quality has been degrading over the past hour. Reviewing oacCellRssiLastDayTable similarly (oacCellRssiLastDayMin/Avg/Max across oacCellRssiLastDayHours) helps distinguish a transient dip from a sustained problem, such as a site experiencing persistent weak coverage. A sudden drop in oacCellRadioRssi combined with low daily averages would flag a cellular backup link that may fail during a primary WAN outage.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current cellular signal strength (RSSI)
  • hourly min/avg/max RSSI history
  • daily min/avg/max RSSI history
  • cellular radio status
