What Is OA-SFP-MIB?

OA-SFP-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from MRV Communications' Optical Access (OA) platform for monitoring pluggable SFP transceiver modules based on the SFP Multi-Source Agreement. It exposes per-slot and per-port transceiver inventory and digital diagnostic data, including transceiver type, vendor identification, connector type, and interface variant (10GigE, InfiniBand, ESCON). This MIB is centrally about monitoring optical hardware status, covering things like transceiver presence, compatibility, and (per the SFP MSA digital diagnostics standard it is based on) optical power and temperature readings for each installed module. It is explicitly built on the SFP MSA specification, giving it a clear dependency on that industry standard alongside MRV's own management framework (oaManagement, oaAlarmNotifications). It is deployed on MRV optical access and transport equipment where administrators need visibility into the health of individual pluggable optics across chassis slots and ports. Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll oaSfpInfoTable entries, indexed by oaSfpInfoSlotIndex and oaSfpInfoPortIndex, to check oaSfpInfoIdentifier and oaSfpInfoVendorSpecificIdentifier for each installed transceiver, verifying it matches the expected transceiver type such as oaSfpInfoTransceiver10GigaEth. A mismatch or unexpected oaSfpInfoConnector value could reveal an incompatible or failing optic before it causes a link outage, and oaAlarmNotifications would fire if an SFP degrades further.
