Category: Optical Transport

Description: Defines SNMP trap message objects and notification bindings for MRV Communications optical equipment fault events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OA-TRAP-MESSAGES-MIB?

OA-TRAP-MESSAGES-MIB is an MRV Communications (enterprise OID 6926) proprietary MIB stub defining a single common trap variable — a port's ifAlias — reused across MRV's optical-amplifier (OA) trap notifications. As a notification-support MIB it lets an administrator identify which port alias a given MRV optical-amplifier trap refers to. It is deployed on MRV Communications optical-amplifier equipment. Engineers can download the OA-TRAP-MESSAGES-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OA-TRAP-MESSAGES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MRV Communications optical-amplifier equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator reads oaDevTrapsPortsIfAlias from an MRV optical-amplifier trap to identify which port alias the alert refers to.

What Can Be Monitored

  • port-alias identification for optical-amplifier traps
