Category: Storage
Description: Extends host management with Novell NetWare-specific OS statistics, volumes, and service status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NetWare-Host-Ext-MIB?
NetWare-Host-Ext-MIB is a host-resources extension MIB tailored to Novell NetWare servers, supplementing generic host-management data with NetWare-specific operating system statistics, volume information, and service status. It is intended to expose OS-level metrics such as NetWare volume usage/health and the status of NetWare network services or NLMs (NetWare Loadable Modules) running on the server. Its central purpose is monitoring software and OS status on the host, including service/process-like status and storage volume health, complementing hardware-oriented host data from HOST-RESOURCES-MIB. It explicitly extends the standard HOST-RESOURCES-MIB, inheriting its device/software inventory model for NetWare-specific objects. It is typically deployed on legacy Novell NetWare file/print servers being monitored alongside standard host-resource polling. Engineers can download the NetWare-Host-Ext-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NetWare-Host-Ext-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
No sample objects or module description text were provided for this module, so specific table/column names cannot be cited; based on the short description, an administrator would poll NetWare volume and service-status objects to confirm storage volumes are mounted and healthy and that critical NetWare services are running. A volume reported as dismounted or a service shown as stopped would indicate a server-level fault. Without supplied object detail, further specifics cannot be responsibly invented.
