What Is NSCRTV-HFCEMS-ALARMS-MIB?
NSCRTV-HFCEMS-ALARMS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from NSCRTV for its HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coax) cable television element management system, modeling plant alarm generation and history for cable TV headend and outside-plant equipment. It exposes alarmLogTable, a 16-entry rolling alarm history table indexed by alarmLogIndex, where each alarmLogInformation entry packs a timestamp, alarm severity/enumeration (NOMINAL, HIHI, HI, LO, LOLO, or discrete major/minor), the reporting network element's status, and object identifier/value data for the specific alarm condition. It also defines alarmLogNumberOfEntries and alarmLogLastIndex scalars for tracking table fill state, and an hfcAlarmEvent TRAP-TYPE that carries the physical address, logical NE ID, alarm log entry, and optional free-text alarm description at the moment an alarm fires. It depends on companion MIBs NSCRTV-HFCEMS-COMMON-MIB (for commonPhysAddress/commonNELogicalID) and NSCRTV-ROOT for its OID tree placement, and is deployed within NSCRTV cable TV EMS deployments monitoring HFC plant health. Cable operators load the NSCRTV-HFCEMS-ALARMS-MIB MIB into their EMS or NMS to receive and decode real-time HFC plant alarm traps.

An operator subscribes to hfcAlarmEvent traps and cross-references the alarmLogInformation payload against alarmLogTable (indexed by alarmLogIndex) to determine which network element and alarm severity triggered the event; a burst of HIHI or discrete-major alarms tied to the same commonNELogicalID would indicate a developing HFC plant fault requiring field dispatch.
