Category: Alarm and Event Management, Cisco Devices, Network Interfaces, SNMP Framework
Description: Declares SNMP agent capability statements for the CISCO-IEEE8021-CFM-EXT-MIB 802.1ag CFM extensions on Cisco platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-IEEE8021-CFM-EXT-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-IEEE8021-CFM-EXT-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module, not a data-bearing MIB, that documents which objects and groups of the CISCO-IEEE8021-CFM-EXT-MIB (Cisco's extensions to IEEE 802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management) are implemented by the SNMP agent on a given Cisco platform and software release. It contains no counters or tables of its own; it simply lists supported CFM extension features, variations, and any implementation-specific restrictions. It therefore has no direct hardware/software status monitoring role, but it determines which CFM extension fault-detection and connectivity-verification data (used for Ethernet OAM fault monitoring) can actually be polled from a given device. It is entirely dependent on the CISCO-IEEE8021-CFM-EXT-MIB it describes and on the SNMPv2-CONF AGENT-CAPABILITIES macro. As a CISCO-IEEE8021-CFM-EXT-CAPABILITY reference, it is typically used internally by Cisco and NMS vendors for MIB compiler support and device capability negotiation during onboarding, not for routine operational polling.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-IEEE8021-CFM-EXT-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco switches/routers supporting IEEE 802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it only documents which CISCO-IEEE8021-CFM-EXT-MIB features (802.1ag CFM extensions) a given Cisco platform's agent supports.
