What Is NNCEXTPVC-MIB?

NNCEXTPVC-MIB is Alcatel/Newbridge Networks' proprietary MIB for managing Permanent Virtual Connections (PVCs) on Cell Relay (ATM) interfaces, covering both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connections. It belongs to the ATM WAN switching technology area. It exposes configuration and status data for Permanent Virtual Path Connections (PVPCs, via nncCrPvpcTable) and Permanent Virtual Channel Connections (PVCCs, via nncCrPvccTable), supporting creation, modification, query, and deletion of these circuits, including cross-connections between Cell Relay and Frame Relay endpoints. Its role in monitoring is centered on configuration/status visibility, verifying that provisioned PVCs/PVPCs remain correctly configured and operationally up rather than exposing hardware environmental sensors. Monitoring Examples

An operator would query nncCrPvpcTable and nncCrPvccTable to confirm the row status and endpoint configuration of a provisioned PVPC or PVCC, checking that a circuit connecting a Cell Relay endpoint to a Frame Relay endpoint remains active. If a PVC's row status shows other than active, or endpoint parameters mismatch, this indicates a misconfigured or torn-down permanent circuit needing correction. The MIB's row-based create/modify/delete model means monitoring here largely means polling connection status rather than performance counters.
