What Is NMS-TC?
NMS-TC is an NMS Communications enterprise MIB that defines the textual conventions and shared data types used throughout NMS Communications' family of enterprise MIB modules, which typically cover telephony/media-processing hardware. As a textual-conventions module, it exposes no runtime data objects itself; it standardizes syntax (such as enumerations for status, mode, or resource types) used by NMS Communications' operational MIBs to represent card, resource, or call-processing status. Its monitoring relevance is indirect: the enumerated types it defines are what allow companion NMS MIBs to represent hardware/software status such as board state, resource utilization, or diagnostic condition consistently across the product line. It is a foundational dependency for other NMS Communications enterprise MIB modules, all registered under the same NMS-TC OID branch of NMS Communications' enterprise tree. It is deployed as a support module alongside NMS Communications media processing/telephony boards and gateways wherever those devices are managed via SNMP.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NMS-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- NMS Communications media processing/telephony boards and gateways
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only TEXTUAL-CONVENTION types shared across NMS Communications MIBs, with no sample tables or scalars of its own to poll. These types would be referenced by companion NMS operational MIBs - for example, a resource-state or board-status enumeration used in a *ResourceTable's status column. An administrator would monitor those companion MIBs' tables rather than this one to see actual board or resource status.
