Category: Switch Management

Description: Manages NetWorth FastPipes Ethernet switch port configuration and traffic statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NETWORTH-FASTPIPES-MIB?

NETWORTH-FASTPIPES-MIB is a Networth Inc. (a legacy 1990s Ethernet switch vendor) MIB module for managing FastPipes Ethernet switch port configuration, firmware, and basic hardware inventory. It exposes software version tracking (current and pending TFTP-downloadable firmware for both the main unit and its uplink module), hardware identification (EEPROM version, manufacture date, RAM size), and operational state such as reset control, last failure reason, and authentication error source address. Its direct relevance to hardware/software status monitoring includes tracking current vs. future software version to confirm a firmware upgrade completed successfully, diagnosing device resets via last-failure-reason, and basic memory/hardware inventory via RAM size and EEPROM version. There's no explicit external MIB dependency evident beyond the vendor's own enterprise tree. It was deployed on Networth FastPipes managed Ethernet switches in mid-1990s enterprise LAN environments, and administrators supporting legacy gear can still load the NETWORTH-FASTPIPES-MIB into a MIB Browser to inspect these objects.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NETWORTH-FASTPIPES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Networth FastPipes managed Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator upgrading firmware would set nwfpTFTPServerIPAddress and monitor nwfpFutureSoftwareVersion versus nwfpCurrentSoftwareVersion to confirm when the new image has been loaded and activated, with nwfpCurrentUplinkSoftwareVers/nwfpFutureUplinkSoftwareVers tracked similarly for the uplink module. After an unexpected reboot, checking nwfpLastFailureReason would reveal whether the switch reset due to a watchdog, power event, or command-triggered nwfpReset. nwfpAuthErrIPaddress would show the source of a failed management authentication attempt, while nwfpEEPROMVersion and nwfpRAMsize confirm hardware revision and installed memory.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current vs. pending software version (main and uplink)
  • last failure/reset reason
  • unauthorized authentication attempt source address
  • EEPROM version and manufacture date
  • installed RAM size
  • TFTP server address for firmware updates
